How I got my NBI Clearance in 5 minutes
When I was 3 months pregnant (April 2013), I accompanied my husband to the mall to apply for his NBI clearance. While waiting, I also decided to apply for my NBI clearance since my previous one was already expired. And guess what?
I got my NBI clearance within 5 minutes. Yes, you read it right, 5 minutes!
How? Read on…
I completely filled out the Online NBI Clearance Application form and printed it before I went to NBI satellite office in Robinsons Galleria.
12:30pm – I asked the guard where the online applicants queue was and if there’s a priority lane for pregnant women
12:31pm – The guard looked at my tummy and asked me how many months was I pregnant. I said 3 months, but actually my baby bump was already obvious and it even looked like I was 6 months pregnant.
12:32pm – The guard guided me to the cashier and I was given priority. I gave my application form, showed my valid ID and paid P115.
12:33pm – I enrolled my biometrics
12:34pm – I had my picture taken
12:35pm – I got my newly printed NBI clearance
I went there with my husband who was also applying for NBI clearance. While he was waiting on the queue for the cashier, I told him that I was just going to ask something from the guard. And that’s when I asked the guard if there was a priority lane. When I went back to my husband after 5 minutes, I showed him my NBI clearance and he was surprised! He thought I was just joking. He even checked the issue date to make sure it wasn’t the old one. And obviously it wasn’t because my last name is already the same as his.
Unfortunately, the priority lane was only for pregnant women and does not include the husbands. J So even if I got mine that fast, I still had to wait for my husband who finished his application and got his clearance after three hours.
This is the third time I applied for NBI clearance. The first time was when I applied for my first job 8 years ago. And that process took me almost an entire day because I went there around 9 in the morning and it got released around 5 in the afternoon under the heat of the sun. It was at the back of QC Hall.
The second was last year in QC Hall also with my boyfriend (now my husband). It was also during the hot summer time and it took us 5 hours to complete the process. And the sad part was I got a HIT. I wasn’t interviewed but they told me to come back after two weeks to claim my clearance.
Maybe I was just so lucky today that I was able to get my NBI clearance in 5 minutes. And maybe, this is the first time it happened in the history of NBI application in the Philippines… And thank goodness it happened to me! 🙂
Tips on how to get an NBI clearance (FAST & EASY)
Completely fill out the application form online which you can find here.
Make sure that all the information are correct and the ID that you’re going to register in the application form is the same as the ID that you’re going to show when you go there personally.
Don’t worry if you get an error after clicking SUBMIT. An error may show up 2, 3 or even 10 times depending on the number of people who are also trying to submit applications online. The trick is to be patient and just keep on clicking it until it gives you the registration code.
Once you get the registration code and have the application form printed, you just saved yourself from the first long queue line for data entry.
When you get to the NBI office, immediately ask the NBI personnel or guard where the online applicants queue is and follow the line right away. This saves you from the other applicants who are also looking for the line. Thus if you’re quick, you get ahead of them and finish faster.
If you are pregnant, immediately ask the NBI personnel or guard if there is a priority lane for pregnant applicants. If they ask you how many months you’re pregnant, just tell them the truth or better yet show them a copy of your ultrasound result. This is a good tip for those who still look sexy and thin even if they’re already pregnant.
Follow the NBI personnel/guard immediately when they tell you that there’s a priority lane. Well, actually it’s not really a separate lane. They will only give you a priority by accommodating your application ahead of the applicant who’s supposed-to-be next in line.
Once you get to the counter/cashier, make sure you already have your online application form ready with your signature together with your valid ID and money for the payment.
After paying at the cashier, go directly to the next counter to enroll your biometrics and have your picture taken but please make sure you tell the personnel that you’re pregnant. Again, the magic word here is “you’re pregnant”. If there’s no HIT, just wait for a minute or two and your NBI clearance is out and you’re ready to go. But if it’s a HIT, then you might have to undergo an interview with them or you will be given another schedule to claim your NBI clearance.
If you apply for an NBI clearance, choose to go to an NBI satellite office in the mall like Robinsons Galleria or Megamall. Not only is it accessible but also convenient because it’s airconditioned. Schedule it either early morning or before lunch and do it on a midweek but never on Mondays or Fridays.
To summarize it all, the best tip is to be quick and prompt. If you don’t know what to do or where to go, don’t waste your time looking around. ASK… Yes, ask anyone from the NBI Staff or even the guard on duty! I’m sure they’ll be able to assist you.
