My WAHM Story: How I Became a Work-at-Home-Mom

I didn’t have any idea about being a WAHM until I attended the WAHM 101: How to be a Work at Home Mom Workshop on June 28, 2014.

It was only a month after I resigned from my 7-year employment at the call center when I learned about this workshop. The main reason I resigned from my job was because I wanted to stay close to my baby as often as possible. When I was at work, I always got distracted by the thought of my baby, who’s left at home, and I wanted to change that by staying at home for good.

My plan was to look for a job opportunity that I can do at home. I was still happy with my job, but I knew I would be happier if I see and bond with my baby, while working from home at the same time.

So I attended this workshop…

WAHM 101 Workshop, June 28, 2014 

Martine De Luna, the Director of the WAHMderful Life Community, shared tips on how to transition from being a “working girl” to being a WAHM or Work-At-Home-Mom. Then we had an activity where we discussed why we want to be a WAHM and what we intend to do as WAHMs. Marge Aberasturi of TheHappyWahm, joined our group during the activity and she also shared with us her WAHM story.

There was also an Interactive Panel Discussion entitled, “Are you Ready for the WAHM Lifestyle?” with Louisa Mercado, Hana Pangan, and Sammy Tan as panelists.

I’m very grateful that I attended this workshop because it opened my eyes to opportunities that I’ve never imagined I would do in the weeks and months that followed.

Martine and Marge were the first two WAHMs who inspired me to be a WAHM. When I learned that they have their own websites and most of the other WAHMS at the event have blogs, I got inspired to build my own blog too.

I had no idea how to build a blog, but I was motivated enough that I was able to create my own website from scratch in one week. And it is this blog,

I remember, Marge said that our blog is like our online CV. It makes it easier for employers to find us. Aside from looking for employers or employment opportunities online, having a blog can lead them to us.

The WAHM 101: How to be a Work at Home Mom Workshop included 4 FREE Mastermind Sessions, which I all attended.

The first Mastermind Session was “How to have the heart of WAHM” with Martine De Luna. She shared various tips on how to make a living while making a home and the different opportunities in blogging.

The second Mastermind Session was “Homebased Business Ideas Brainstorm” with Ginger Arboleda. She emphasized the importance of self-discovery: Understanding the “YOU” brand. This was the first time I heard Ginger talk and I was really inspired.

The third Mastermind Session was “How to Make a Business Plan” with Ginger Arboleda. She explained to us the importance of having a business plan and she taught us how to make one which we can apply in our own businesses.

I also went to the Work-At-Home Weekend Expo on October 25, 2014, but I didn’t get the chance to listen to the premium talks because I had other plans that day.

These WAHM events were established by Martine De Luna, the Director of the WAHMderful Life Community and Ginger Arboleda, the General Manager of Manila Workshops.

I’m truly thankful that I attended the WAHM workshops. I learned so many things from the speakers and fellow WAHMs. I never thought that I would be able to create my own blog, but it was made possible because of the inspiration that I got from these lovely and smart WAHMs.

Two months later, I became an Event Director of Manila Workshops, and just recently, I was appointed as COO of the company. I feel blessed and I’m so grateful to Ginger, my boss, for believing in me.

This coming Saturday, September 26, 2015, we’re having the “Work-At-Home Expo 2015”, and I personally invite you to attend this event. Club Ultima Gift Certificate: Crown Regency Hotel Booking Issues

This is the second part of my Club Ultima experience. I suggest you click HERE first to read the first part.

Okay, so I finally got my gift certificate for a 3D2N stay in Crown Regency Hotel cared of Club Ultima. It was a good timing because I and my family were planning to go to Cebu that time for a short vacation, and I knew that there’s Crown Regency in the city.

In this post, I’ll share with your our email conversation with one of the staff from Club Ultima. I won’t disclose her name here, but if you want to know her, just post a comment below or fill out the contact form.

ME: (7/1/2014)

I went to Club Ultima / Crown Regency Westlife Bldg, West Ave, Quezon City branch last night. They gave me the gift cert for 3 days and 2 nights stay.

I would like to know how much would it cost if I book a reservation for Cebu Crown Regency Hotel and Towers on July 12-14, 2014. Attached is the scanned copy of the gift certificate.

CLUB ULTIMA: (7/2/2014)

If you will book using the gc attached, there’s a Php3,000 booking fee as stated at the gift certifcate. However, we don’t have available room on June 12-14, 2014 at Crown Regency Hotel & Towers.

I’m willing to pay for the booking fee of P3,000 just to avail this gift certificate. I don’t get the point of giving away these certificates if we cannot use it. When they invited us to their office to claim this gift, they never mentioned that there’s a booking fee. They said this 3D2N stay was absolutely FREE. I was surprised when they wrote in the cert that there’s still such fee. Why is that so? Because I did not sign up for the membership? That’s unfair. First of all, I did not ask for this gift. They called me several times and convinced me to claim this. And even with a busy schedule, I spared time just to go to their office and claim it.

When I got there, I listened to their presentation. I treated them well and with respect. I searched for this scheme on the internet before I headed over to their office. And I found so many negative posts, blogs, and comments about this. I don’t know if you’re aware of that… You should be because these will definitely affect your business.


But again, even if I already had an idea of what’s going to happen, I still allotted my time. I wanted to know and experience it first hand so I went there. I was hoping it will be different. I was hoping that all the negative comments about club ultima were all wrong. And I was hoping that I would be the first blogger/writer who would write positive posts/comments/reviews about Club Ultima and Crown Regency.

With all honesty, the presentation went well. The ‘officer’ who entertained me was nice and not ‘pushy’ unlike those from the other tables. I love traveling and I found the membership and benefits worthy. But I declined the offer because I wasn’t ready to pull out money from my account to pay that big amount for a luxurious getaway. Then they gave my gift cert and assured me that I will be able to use it. So I called and you asked me to send a copy of that cert with the booking dates. I did. Now I got our reply that the dates were fully booked.  That’s ridiculous! I searched on different travel websites, Agoda, Asiatravel, Expedia, and even your own site and tried to book the same dates and it’s not fully booked. I swear! Lots of available rooms.

Now I get to understand why so many people out there have negative thoughts about club ultima. Why do these telemarketers say it’s free when it’s not? Why give these certificates if the dates are always fully booked when we are about to use it?  Sorry that I am saying this to you. It’s not you personally, but your services. You have good hotels with good facilities and amenities. But if you continue doing such schemes, you’ll be losing a lot of clients and customers. This email is not intended to destruct your company but to give you a wake-up call of what other people are talking about on the internet regarding your services. It’s more of a constructive criticism, and not destructive at all.

Please don’t get me wrong here. I’m just sharing out my point. Now, having said all these, I would like to go back to my original query. Can I still possibly book my reservation for these dates? I understand your predicament, however, we only have room allocations for this certificate and your preferred dates were full already at Crown Regency Hotel & Towers. Yes, there are still available rooms on the websites you mentioned and even our online bookings, but it’s also their room allocations from Crown Regency which are not yet taken.

As stated in the mechanics of the gift certificate, it is subject to room availability and a minimum of two weeks advance booking is required. This is to make sure that we can get a room for our guest since we receive plenty of bookings using gift certificate like yours. If you really want July 12-14, what can I offer is Crown Regency Residences in V. Rama Ave, Guadalupe Cebu City and if you want Crown Regency Hotel and Towers, you may change your schedule in later dates. Thank you.

You know what, one of your telemarketers, Andrei Santos 09228825695, called me just 20 minutes ago, he was inviting me again to club ultima presentation at West Ave. He’s the one who called me 2 wks ago. He said the same exact thing. I clarified about the 3D2N stay gift cert that you’re giving and I asked him if I can book a reservation for next week and he said yes. I asked if it’s not fully booked at crown regency hotel Cebu, and he said no. meaning he confirmed that I can use the gift cert anytime, even next week, July 12-14,2014. and when I told him that he already called last time and I already went to club ultima west ave, he was surprised. I told him that I’ve been trying to book our Cebu travel next week and that you told me that it’s fully booked and he said that it’s not. that I can book for next week at the hotel, not at the residences. then he said he will contact reservation to clarify this and said that he will call me back in 5 minutes… I asked for his email so I could forward our conversation, but he said no need coz he’ll call me right back. he even said that he’ll email me so I can have his email address. I told him I’m going to give him my email add since I haven’t given it yet, but he HUNG UP on me…

how do u think can he send me an email without him knowing my email add??!! what’s wrong with these guys? they were really nice and friendly when they’re inviting, and now that i need them, they’ll just hang up like that?!?!? and see, it’s been 30 minutes and he hasn’t called me back!?! Please advise on what i need to do with these issues. i am sooo disappointed with you guys.. im not a member of club ultima, but i guess this is not how you’re supposed to treat your potential clients. Thanks!

In behalf of Club Ultima, we would like to apologize of your experiece with one of our telemarketers. Rest assured that their department will take actions on this matter. I’m writing regarding your reservations/booking on July 12-14, 2014.   We do have an availability at Crown Regency Residences, Guadalupe, Cebu on your preferred date. However, we are fully booked at Crown Regency Hotel and Towers since we are only given room allocations. Let me also point out that one of the mechanics stated in the certificate says, . 1. “Subject to room availability. Minimum of 2 weeks advance booking is required.”

If you really prefer to be book at Crown Regency Hotel and Towers, kindly provide us other date instead. Or you can have it book some other time as our certificate has no expiration date. Again, we apologize for what had happened. Thank you.

That’s the end of our email thread. I didn’t reply anymore because I was just so disappointed with Club Ultima. We were able to go to Cebu for our short vacation but we didn’t stay at Crown Regency Hotel. We stayed in another hotel instead.

But since she said that the gift certificate has no expiration date, I might reconsider booking a reservation at Crown Regency Hotel in Cebu in the future.

I checked Crown Regency’s current rate and for a Superior Room, it’s Php 3,050 per night. If I use the gift cert, they said that I only have to pay Php 3,000 for the booking fee and I can stay there for 3 days and 2 nights. Hmm, not badif it’s true and if there are no other charges. It’s like a 50% discount for me.

Oh well, I have no plans of going to Cebu in the near future, but I’ll see if this gift certificate from Club Ultima is even worth considering.

Club Ultima: 3D2N Stay at Crown Regency Hotel GC – How True?

On June 30, 2014, exactly a year ago, I went to the office of Club Ultima at Westlife Bldg, West Ave, Quezon City. It was a 20-30 minute walk from North Avenue MRT Station.There were jeepneys going there but I preferred to walk. Then I saw the building with the big signage of Westlife. I went to the second floor and I recognized their office easily because there were pictures of Crown Regency Hotels on the wall.

I went in and asked the receptionist how to go about claiming the gift certificate that I had won in a raffle according to the guy who called me a week ago.

Okay, here’s what happened…

I got a call from this number +639228825695 on June 20, 2014. He said he’s Andrei Santos from Crown Regency Hotel and he told me that I won in a raffle and I was entitled to a 3D2N stay at Crown Regency Hotel. He was inviting me to their office to claim the gift certificate and sent me the details through SMS. Then I remembered this lady who approached me and my husband while we were grocery shopping at Shopwise Cubao the week before.

And here’s the text message from Andrei Santos…

“(FORMAL INVITATION) CROWN REGENCY HOTEL ofc. 2nd flr. Westlife Bldg. Cor Bulacan St. West Ave. Quezon City (at the ground flr you will see starbucks cafe and panciteria lido). Few blocks away at SM North Edsa. We are inviting you to claim your gift certificate. Together with your spouse. See you tomorrow Saturday. June 21, 2014 around 1:30 to 3pm. Just bring your 1 valid ID. And stay for the complimentary buffet to be served, kindly finish the 90 minutes awarding presentation for you to see the complete facilities and amenities, and to choose your best destination. The gift certificate 3 days and 2 nights stay at Crown Regency Hotel, good for (2 adults / 2 kids), NO VALIDITY PERIOD. Again no financial obligation, no commitment. Kindly look for me Mr. Andrei Santos or Ms. Kimberly our receptionist. (02) 346-8716 Thank you and God bless.

I thought I was so lucky to have won in the raffle, but when I searched about this on the internet, I was shocked when the search results came up with different blog posts and reviews related to this. And 90% of them were negative!

When Andrei Santos called earlier that day, I confirmed that I was going to their office the next day to claim the gift certificate. But I changed my mind after reading the negative reviews about Club Ultima. So I texted him that I won’t make it because of “another appointment”. Then he called again and told me that the gift certificate can only be claimed the next day, otherwise, it will be given to another person. Then I said it’s okay and he hung up.

I thought that was over. But a week after that, he called again, and told me that I won the raffle. He used the same spiel and he sent me the same text message except for the date. I wasn’t sure if he was aware that he already contacted me or if he was just pretending like nothing happened when we had a conversation the week before. But it seemed like he wasn’t aware. So I listened to him and I also pretended like it was my first time to hear about it.

This time though, I agreed to claim the gift certificate from their office, because I wanted to know what happens there and how they’re able to convince their potential clients to sign up for their offers…

So I went there. I talked to the receptionist then she introduced me to one of their account managers, whose name was Susan, who said that she’s a dentist by profession and a travel account manager on the side. She looked professional. She smiled all the time. She was nice and friendly.

Oh, by the way, there was free dinner and it looked yummy. And while all the other guests were eating, I preferred not to eat because I thought that it would be a little awkward to say NO, NO, NO after I ate their food. 🙂

Back to business…

Before I could claim the gift certificate, she said that I need to watch the video first and listen to her presentation. Okay. I obeyed. She was nice so I also tried my best to be nice even if it was taking longer than I expected. She said that it was only going to take around 30-45 minutes but it actually took 2 hours to finish her presentation.

She showed me various travel destinations, 5-star hotels, sophisticated accommodations and amenities, and all that kind of stuff. I felt like I was in dreamland, but I tried to keep myself sane by saying NO to whatever she was trying to sell. Then she mentioned huge amounts of money from Php 500,000 to Php 200,000, to Php 100,000, until she said it’s okay if I couldn’t afford to pay the full amount yet, but I had to pay at least Php 10,000 to secure my reservation for their promo.

Why in the world would I do that?!

Of course, I said no and I told her that I had no money. Then she asked if I have a credit card, I said none because I intentionally didn’t bring it. Then she asked if I have an ATM, I said yes, but there’s no available balance in it. She tried to convince me to give her my ATM card details, but I refused and only then I said that I need to go and I need to claim the gift certificate that they promised to give after the “short” presentation. She talked to her manager, who approached me and further explained the features, advantages, and benefits of what they were offering, and tried to convince me to sign up, but just like what Tita Susan got from me, I refused and I firmly said NO, thank you!

Finally, I got my gift certificate.

Then I called Crown Regency the next day to confirm if that was really valid. They said yes and on my next post, I’ll share with you what we’ve talked about after that…

My Experience working with Marvin Germo and attending his Stock Smarts Workshop Series

My first project with Manila Workshops as an Event Director was a success and I’m proud of it! 🙂

I’ve never seen Marvin Germo before, but I have been hearing a lot of good things about him, especially when it comes to stock market investing. When I learned from Ginger, the General Manager of Manila Workshops, that I’ll be working with Marvin for his Stock Smarts Workshop Series, my heart jumped in excitement because I will finally see him in person. I only knew him as the “Stock Smart”, but I later found out that he’s also a rock star! 🙂

After coordinating with him for a couple of days through texts, calls, and emails, I finally got to see him personally on the first session of the workshop series. He came into the venue/room wearing sunglasses and when he took it off, I was starstruck! I just saw one of my idols in finance! Haha! 🙂

Because I was at the event, I also got the chance to listen to Marvin as he was discussing the different topics of the Stock Smarts Workshop Series.  And I could say that he is indeed a Stock Smart. He knows his craft very well and he’s able to deliver it to the audience without boring them. I’ve attended a lot of seminars before, but this was the most intensive and comprehensive stock market workshop that I’ve experienced so far. His approach is very light and cool. I’m not saying this because we work together, but because that’s what I experienced. In fact, I’ve been investing in the stock market for almost a year now and I’ve only discovered some of the very useful techniques and strategies in the stock market from his workshops. Now I understand why most of the attendees didn’t mind paying a ‘lot of money’ to attend the workshops because they got what they paid for and it’s totally worth it.

We got the chance to talk after he finished the two workshops on the first day. He was very friendly and accommodating. He shared a little bit about himself and what he does and I’m impressed with his passion, hard work, and dedication to help Filipinos achieve financial freedom by investing in the stock market.

And it was so nice of him to give me a copy of his new book plus a dedication when I half-jokingly asked for it. And of course, knowing myself, I won’t let the day pass without having a photo taken with him. 🙂

The Stock Smarts Workshop Series is composed of four modules, namely, Stock Smarts Basics, How to Find the Perfect Timing in Buying and Selling Stocks, Technical Analysis, and Fundamental Analysis. It’s a full course (but you can attend any module), that’s intended to teach the ins and outs of the stock market from the basic essentials to the most complex topics like technical analysis using chart patterns and oscillators and other tools. And Marvin’s role here is to simplify everything to make it easier for the investors to know how the stock market works without bombarding them with a lot of information.

Happy New Year!

It’s the last day of the year and while most of us are preparing for media noche, I took a quick look at my humble portfolio in the stock market through my online broker.

I chose to park a portion of my investment in the stock market instead of participating actively in trading because of other priorities. And looking at the status of my portfolio, I’m happy that it’s showing a positive (up) trend after seeing some of my stocks broke support levels in the past few weeks just like how the stock market dropped consecutively. And I’m hoping that it fully recovers and continues to move even higher in 2015.

And because I didn’t want to welcome the New Year with debts and payables, I paid my credit card balance in full. I also paid all our other bills that are due next week including PLDT, Sky Cable, and my Sun mobile postpaid plan. Thanks to online payment facilities for making this easier and convenient for us.  No need to go out of the house and wait in long queues at the bank and no need to worry about not being able to pay when the banks are closed on holidays because online banking is available 24/7.

Meanwhile, aside from the gifts (mostly toys and clothes) that our little girl received from her baptism in January and first birthday in October to Christmas of this year, she also received some monetary gifts which I’m planning to use to open an account either in stocks or mutual fund mainly for her education and other future needs. It’s not much but good enough to get started.

Eight hours to go and it’s hello 2015! My family is now busy preparing for the meals that we’re going to share tonight for our media noche. Whatever we have on our table for the New Year and whoever we celebrate it with, let’s all be grateful for all the things that happened in 2014 and lets welcome 2015 with love, faith and hope that we may all find happiness and greatness in everything we do, all for the Glory of God.

I’m now officially part of Manila Workshops! :)

After resigning from my 7-year employment with a BPO company last May 2014, I spent most of my time learning new skills and adding value to myself by attending seminars and workshops.

I like attending seminars because it offers a more interactive learning experience plus I get to meet the speakers and other participants in person. It also gives me a good idea on what topics to write and share to my readers which gives me that sense of value and fulfillment.

As an advocate of financial literacy and a believer of continuing education, I am very excited to announce that I’m already a part of Manila Workshops (under GPA Events Management Services), which is owned and managed by my mentor (of the Love the Leap Program) and mompreneur, Ginger Palma-Arboleda.

As an Event/Workshop Director, I will be handling different workshops series about Personal Finance and Investments. And I’m privileged (and thrilled) that I’ll be working with two of the most popular and award-winning Personal Finance Experts in the Philippines, Fitz Villafuerte of Ready To Be Rich and Marvin Germo of Stock Smarts.

Is it worth it to buy an iPhone and other expensive gadgets?

While on our way to Megamall for the supposed 3-day sale last week, my sister and I had a brief conversation about buying a new cellphone…

Sister: Ate, yung boss ko, binebenta yung iPhone 5 niya P15,000 lang kasi bibili siya ng brand new iPhone 6.

Me: Ang mahal naman…

Sister: Mura na yun. Bago lang kaya yun, wala pang 1 year.

Me: Yung officemate ni John nagbebenta din ng iPhone 5.  P7,000 lang.

Sister: Talaga??? Bilhin mo na!

Me: Ayoko…

Sister: Ano ba yan, ayaw ng mahal, ayaw ng mura… Ano gusto mo?!?

Me: Eh kasi my cellphone pa ko. Ok pa naman at di naman sira. Bakit ako bibili ng bago? Gusto ko din magkaron ng iPhone pero hindi pa yan ang priority ko sa ngayon…

I might have sounded KJ (kill joy) but I was just being practical and honest. I’d love to have an iPhone but I don’t need it right now. I still have my 2-year old cellphone which I got from my postpaid plan for free and it’s still fully functional.

The only reason why I wanted to have an iPhone is because of its “name”. But whenever I think about its price, I always make excuses for myself not to buy one for now even if I can afford it. I like the specs and I really believe in the quality of Apple products because I had an iPhone before and my old iPad 1 is still perfectly working. Well, I know that iPhone is iPhone. And for some, it’s really the “brand/name” that counts.

For me, there’s nothing wrong about buying or having an expensive gadget like iPhone as long as you have enough budget for it. Actually, even if you have enough budget but you don’t have savings and/or emergency fund yet, I don’t think it’s practical to buy an expensive gadget, unless it’s going to generate more income for you or for your business (or maybe it’s gonna give you extreme satisfaction and happiness).

What more if you’re planning to borrow money or apply for a loan just to buy this gadget? I don’t really think it’s worth it. I’d rather buy a more affordable brand new cellphone of another brand, with nearly or even the same specs with the expensive iPhone than bury myself in debt and sacrifice my other needs for several months just to pay it all off.

October Updates and My Search for Additional Source of “Active Income”

October has been a busy month for me. My daughter celebrated her 1st birthday last Saturday, October 18th and I spent most of my time preparing and DIY’ing (customizing) everything from the invitations to the decorations, loot bags, and all other stuff. Though I spent quite an amount for that, I could say that our expenses were much lower compared to if we had it done at a fast food restaurant or at an events place but without sacrificing the food and the quality of the stuff I made. It was tiring but it’s all worth it.

I temporarily took a vacation from my investments. I’ve been really busy with other priorities and I knew I won’t be able to focus if I did it all at the same time.

My portfolio in the stock market is still showing negative and I urgently need to take a closer look at each stock. I need to do a comprehensive research and decide on which stock to retain and which ones to let go.

In forex on the other hand, I have been trading using my demo account. I earn, I lose, and I earn again but I’m not yet confident to trade using my live account with my prize fund. I need to study more.

My savings and emergency fund turned negative after all the expenses incurred lately. Thanks to my mutual fund which came to the rescue after reaching the maturity period of my 5-year contract. It wasn’t much but not only had it saved us from getting into debt, but it also helped us in starting over after all our recent expenses.

I got my husband, myself, and some family members insurance policies from Philamlife, which I got at a much lower price because I acted as the “middleman” or the agent. That was really the original plan – to be a licensed financial advisor or insurance agent so that I could avail of my own policy at a discounted price through my commission. But because I believe in the benefits of having insurance, I made it a part-time job in order to serve others who are also interested.

Aside from these, I’m also thinking about putting up my own business. On what type of business and how to do it is something that still remains to be a big question for me.  Thanks to the seminars and mastermind sessions that I’ve attended because somehow I learned about business plans and ideas. I still have so much to learn but I’m taking one step at a time. And hopefully I’ll be off to a good start pretty soon…

For the meantime, I need to find ways to earn additional “active” income. I have a small investment in the stock market but I consider it as a passive income for our long term goals. My husband is the sole provider for the family right now and we make both ends meet by “living within our means.”

I budget his income as effectively as I can and I think I’m doing a good job because we’re able to manage our expenses. With his income alone, we’re able to pay for our necessities, utility bills, baby’s needs and we still get to dine out or have our family date at least twice a month. He doesn’t earn that much but we’re happy because we don’t have debts. However, we usually have very little or even nothing left for our savings and investments. And that’s the very reason why I’m currently looking for opportunities to have an additional source of active income.

The “Secretary” in Me

It’s been a few days since I published my last post and I missed this blog. A lot of things happened. I hadn’t been feeling well in the past few days due to flu, my baby and I had a short staycation at my sister’s place (previously mine) to catch up with my mom who had just arrived from the province, and I ran a couple of errands mostly for my family.

I consider myself as the secretary for both sides of my family. Actually, my husband used to call me “sexy-tary”.  But now, he calls me “taba-tary” and I guess there’s no need to explain why. You should know by now. 🙂

Anyways, as a secretary, I take care of different things from the simplest to the most complex kind of stuff, and from my personal accounts to other people’s businesses.

On the personal account side, I take responsibility for the proper budgeting of our limited resources, I manage our small investment, and I make sure that our small savings in the bank don’t fall below the maintaining balance or at least recover in no time if it does to avoid penalties and account closure. I also make it a point to pay our credit card bills in full and on time to avoid interest charges.

Managing other people’s accounts is supposed to be none of my business but because I like being the “secretary” and it’s fulfilling when I’m able to help others in my own little ways, I continue to extend a helping hand whenever they need my assistance.

In the week that passed, I’ve ran a couple of errands for some members of the family. Aside from the usual budgeting 101 session with my youngest sister, I also helped with her credit card application – from completing the forms, sending email requests to her employer for COE, ITR and other requirements, and finally submitting her application online. I also helped her and the rest of the family with their SSS Online Registration and now they’re all able to view their contributions without having to go to the branch anymore.

I also take care of my OFW brother’s SSS and Pag-ibig contributions. When he has issues accessing his online accounts, I’m the one who makes email requests to have it reset and reactivated. When he can’t do it, I do it. He and his fiancée are planning to get married next year and because they’re not in the country right now, I take responsibility for some of their needed documents like their Cenomar, marriage applications forms, seminar schedules, and even the wedding preparation itself like the search for the venue, caterer, and a whole lot more.

I do all sorts of admin tasks at home. I make appointments for visa application and passport renewal. I book flights and buy stuff online for other people. I look out for promos and discounts for products and services. I keep receipts and mails. In short, I try to make things easy and organized for myself and for others. And though I receive “tips and treats” at times, I don’t get paid for doing this. But it really doesn’t matter to me. What matters most is that I’m able to help others and hearing them say “thank you” and “good job” is more than enough to make me happy and satisfied.

Happy 1st Monthsary, Pinay Investor!

It’s been a month since I developed and published this website and I’m very happy with how it looks now. Imagine, a stay-at-home-mom, who knows nothing about web development, managed to create a website like this. Never in my entire life did I imagine that I will be a self-taught web developer. And with all the nose-bleeding moments that I went through while learning CSS, HTML, and a little bit of PHP, in fairness to me, I survived and made this dream blog live. 🙂

The contents may not be perfectly written because I’m not really a writer. I’m just aspiring to be one. But that did not stop me from sharing my ideas… Because I believe, that my ideas are worth sharing… And I’m continuously learning and improving…

I’m deeply honored and humbled by the support of my followers and readers. There’s not a lot of them but enough to keep me inspired and motivated to continue my advocacy of spreading financial literacy.

In terms of statistics, already had 1,451 unique visitors with a daily average of 80 visits, and a total of 187,426 hits. It’s not much compared to other blogs but getting these numbers in only a month’s time is just overwhelming.

And to all of you who have already liked Pinay Investor’s facebook page, thank you so much for your support. You all made it possible for Pinay Investor to reach 180 likes as of this writing. I truly appreciate it and I’m hoping to gain more likes and followers as we go along…

In return, I will publish more and more interesting posts that will surely be beneficial to all of us as we journey towards financial independence…
